Excellent Christmas Song

I bought the latest Mercy Me Christmas Sessions CD because I heard some of the songs on the radio, and I really liked their version of Silent Night.

However, I did not expect to be so moved by the last song on the CD. Posted below are the lyrics. It puts Jesus' birth in a much greater perspective for me.

Anyone father who reads these lyrics, can clearly understand what Joseph was going through.

Go to sleep my son
This manger for your bed
You have along road before
You rest your little head

Can you feel the weight of your glory
Do you understand the price
Or does the father guard your heart for now
So you can sleep tonight

Go to sleep my son
Go and chase your dreams
This world can wait for one more moment
Go and sleep in peace

I believe the glory of heaven
Is lying in my arms tonight
Lord I ask that he for just this moment
Simply be my child

Go to sleep my son
And baby close your eyes
Soon enough you'll save the day
But for now dear child of mine
Oh my Jesus sleep tight

God and Sports

I watched several sporting moments happen recently that caught my attention. I used to think athletes were so disingenuous when they pointed to the sky and credited God with their accomplishments.

I feel completely different now.

Reggie Whites number retired was the first time I got to think about this. Reggie White was one of the great athletes of the last 50 years, but more importantly he brought numerous people to God. Anyone who met him will conclude that he led by example and created opportunities for seekers to ask him Why? What?and How?

He used this opportunity to explain the gospel.

Next came Reggie Bush. In his speech after receiving the Heisman trophy. He first Thank God for giving him the opportunity. Not many in the press reported this fact, but I noticed it for the first time. Later he thanked his mother for "being a women of God", which allowed him to be successful.

The final time I noticed this phenomenon was when Andre Igudola was being interviewed after a Philadelphia 76ers victory. In the background you could see only one item in his locker. A book titled God's Play Book. A very subtle reminder of what is really all about. It turns out the book was written by Reggie White.

AMAZING!!!

GRACE & THANKSGIVING

We heard a great sermon on Sunday about the GRACE of God, and it reminded me of how I came to be a Christian. Through God's Grace and Mercy.

Today's Purpose Driven Life Devotional is all about that same Grace. Being thankful and excited about today you need only remind yourself of the free gift of salvation that God has given each and everyone of us.

Today I say a simple Thank you! To my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Kyle Lake

I read this regarding tribute to Kyle Lake from a leader of the Emergent church movement. It gives some background on the work of Kyle and what he meant to members of the Christian community.

Wonderful Thoughts

I received the link below in an email, and it really opened my eyes. It is a great example of stepping back and letting God explain things to you.

Tragedy in Gulf Thank You Aaron Williams

I keep watching the news reports and it tears my heart out. The people of the gulf coast have lost so much. I pray to God they will be okay.

I pulled this out of an article on the tragedy. It says a whole lot about people of faith, and I hope it can set an example for others to follow:
________________________________________________________________
Aaron Williams carefully stowed the wooden door he'd used to ferry his tiny plastic crate of belongings -- a few canned goods, half a bottle of water, a pack of cigarettes and a soggy bible -- and trudged up the ramp to the Superdome.

"This is one beautiful sight," he said of the vast building that was turned into a haven for Hurricane Katrina refugees. "I don't know what we'd do without it."
___________________________________________________________________
There it is a soggy Bible. His most important possessions included a Bible. He was living with Joy after all that has happened. I believe his most important possession has alot to do with that.

I will continue to pray for all of people so deeply effected by this tragedy, but I want to especially thank Aaron Williams, who I have never met, for showing everyone who really looks at this article what he believes.

Just like Job, I am sure he is angry at God, but he is also thankful. I have no idea whether I could be that noble, but I pray to God I would try. With God's help nothing is impossible.

Will's First Day

My youngest son started the next chapter of his life today. Kindergarten!!!. I am so proud of him. He didn’t cry or get upset. This is his first time away from his Mom.

I have prayed long and hard for the last two weeks that God would be with Will as he took this important step. The Lord has blessed me in so many ways. Laurie is mainly responsible after God for Will being ready to move on, She is the best!!

God answers your prayers even if they are just minor details of a little family in this great big world.

I praise you Jesus for watching over my son Will and I invite you to continue to watch over Will, Drew, Laurie and myself
